The past month has been a time of huge upheaval for us. We have been given orders to stay indoors and we can’t leave the house without official documents. We are living life one day at a time, and are thankful for the extra hours of quality time together. As newlyweds, we have discovered we both enjoy puzzles and we recently conquered one.

I am using this time to study language and learn the local dialect of the original inhabitants of this country. Most citizens here have some ancestral connection to this group; however, they are now very isolated, overlooked, and often discriminated against. I hope by learning this language, I will be able to tell them of the eternal love and forgiveness God is offering them.

Alice continues to shine as she works with at-risk teenagers and ministers to women in prostitution. The state of these vulnerable women weighs heavily on her and we are praying and seeking wisdom about how to be God’s love. I am so grateful for her and her wonderful companionship. I really love our times of singing together. Who would have thought that there was someone who loved singing almost as much as I do?

“Our faith journey with others has also been going really well… This has been such a beautiful time and a huge encouragement. I feel like the doors have swung open…”

Our faith journey with others has also been going really well. We meet online and have a rich time of sharing songs and studying. This has been such a beautiful time and a huge encouragement. I feel like the doors have swung open and ramparts are coming down. Some who had no interest are now opening their hearts. Their old ways seem like nonsense, and there is a desire to understand more fully. Friends of friends are also wanting to know more, it is so encouraging.

Thank you, friends, for all the ways you love and support us. We are grateful that we can serve together. Thank you for your prayers, they have made such a difference. We praise God for his grace and mercy and pray that you would experience the nearness of God today, and that his hope and peace would exceed your current circumstances.
